Open Church launched with a big picture approach to serving the global Church. Starting in 2017, we’ll also start hyperfocusing on select cities by empowering locals to identify their most notable causes.
The first is Tulsa. We want to help Christians in Tulsa collaborate locally and share globally.
And to make it possible, we are inviting the people and churches of Tulsa to sponsor the following 4 projects.
$1,500 to Complete Research
This research empowers local leaders to identify Tulsa’s most remarkable or influential causes. We will compile the top 50 causes into an easily-searchable directory, which we hope will be a springboard to help Tulsa Christians collaborate locally. This includes (1) in-depth profiles on 50 causes featuring key projects & future goals and (2) a report highlighting the results and key insights from the research.
$2,500 to Expand Research
Takes it from 50 to 100 Tulsa area causes.
$7,000 to Share Tulsa Resources
Help Tulsa share globally by adding Tulsa-created resources to Open Church’s free library. It does take some time to add these new downloads to the library, but once they’re live, it’s like a snowball effect of Kingdom savings.
$20,000 to Go Beyond Tulsa
Help us serve other areas like Africa and Asia. It will help pave the way for us to build an ecosystem to help the global Church collaborate and share.
The Backstory on What We Learned
After traveling 45 states in an RV to listen to leaders from the many flavors of Christianity, we discovered the following 3 insights to helping Christians work together.
- Prayer & Practicality
It takes prayer and a move of God to create the change we want to see, but there are also practical steps that we can take to prepare the way.
- Unity Needs Awareness
Plenty of Christians want unity, but most of us are only aware of just a sliver of what’s going on in our cities. If you don’t know someone exists, it is hard to collaborate with them.
- Resources Need Harvested
More and more Christians are creating great content like curriculum, artwork, music, and training materials. Many of them want to give it away for free, but they don’t have the extra bandwidth to do so. And instead these resources end up gathering dust on hard drives.
